Orientalism T-Shirt
$25.00
Palestinian-American academic and public intellectual Edward Said's 1978 book "Orientalism" was a critique of the way the "Eastern world/Orient" is seen through the eyes of the West. This book almost single-handedly killed off the term Orientalism as it was known, and opened the eyes of a generation to the bias against the Arab-Islamic/Asian world (as well as North Africa, sometimes the Balkans, and parts of Russia) and the study of and interest in Eastern exoticism in Western culture. A classic work of post-colonialism and a major work of cultural criticism, this book still bears reading today.
This shirt features the first edition cover art- with the painting "The Snake Charmer" by Jean-Léon Gérôme
